Kansas, surprisingly enough, really is from Kansas. The five-piece outfit write and play progressive rock, and have been doing so for decades. They released their debut album “Kansas” in 1974, and said at the time they considered themselves and their music different and hoped to continue that throughout their career.
Kansas is a “garage band” based in Topeka, where they often record. Their prolific recording output includes several albums that went Gold, two that went to Platinum status, one that went 5x Platinum (“Leftoverture,” released in 1976), and one that went 4x Platinum (“Point of Know Return,” released in 1977). In 1974, the band released a compilation album, “The Best of Kansas,” which went 4x Platinum. Two of their singles sold over a million Copies, giving them Gold status. The songs, “Carry On Wayward Son” and “Dust in the Wind” are now iconic.
In the 1970s and 1980s, Kansas regularly ranked on the Billboard charts, appearing for more than 200 weeks. They also played sold-out stadiums and arenas throughout Japan, Europe, and North America. Their latest album, “The Absence of Presence,” dropped in 2020. When events like this are planned, organizers can use poster printing to create publicity.
