Driftwood was created in 2006 by Dan Forsyth and Joe Kollar, who were high school buddies. Forsyth and Koller, along with Mike Torres, Chris Duddy, and Jon Doll, were the original lineup. Torres and Duddy left the band in 2008, and violinist Claire Byrne came on board. Bassist Jon Doll left in 2011, and was replaced by Joe Arcuri. Drummer Will Sigel came aboard later to complete the current lineup.
The group started as a cover band playing mostly classic rock, which was common in the area at the time. However, things changed when Forsyth moved to Colorado, and Kollar paid him a visit. The two attended the Telluride Bluegrass Festival, and fell in love with acoustic music, which they describe as feeling honest and true to its roots. The visit transformed their sound, and they are known now for their folk-rock music.

Driftwood will be at the Iron Works in Buffalo on April 19. Organizers of events like this will often work with poster printing techniques to create suitable advertising.
