Ellicott Development gives completion date for 500 Pearl

Buffalo’s Ellicott Development recently announced a tentative time frame for completion of its 500 Pearl project, the biggest the firm has ever undertaken. Bad weather and heavy snow have slowed the work by several months, but crews are now working on the upper floors. Work has also been started on the inside of the former Buffalo Christian Center building.

Ellicott bought the property in 2014, and is developing a complex comprising 374,000 square feet in the area bounded by Franklin, Pearl, and West Tupper streets. The area adjoins the Theatre District, and is between the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus and the city’s downtown.

Ellicott is renovating the Christian Center building, which once housed the Fraternal order of Eagles, and is also building a twelve-story tower on an adjacent lot. The tower will provide 307,000 square feet of space, and the two structures will be joined seamlessly.

An Aloft hotel will be the project anchor. Aloft is a Marriott hotel, aimed at a technologically-savvy, younger clientele. This particular hotel will offer 110 guest rooms on the tenth, eleventh, and twelfth floors, while space in the Christian Center will be transformed into the hotel lobby, bar, lounge, and meeting rooms, plus a fitness center.

Ellicott representatives said it hopes to finish by September, 2018.

Properties like this can attract visitors if managers work with a brochure printing company to create material that illustrates the development’s amenities.
