EDM master coming to Buffalo

People who love electronic dance music (EDM) will have a chance to hear a master of the craft in Buffalo soon.

John McCarten, who goes by the name Manic Focus, is a talented artist who is known for his creativity, which has led him to create EDM with a hip-hop style.

McCarten discovered music when he was young, and with his family’s support, he began exploring the artform. He studied classical piano from ages five to 14, but later turned to beat-making, inspired by artists like Atmosphere and Dr. Dre. He started creating his own music when he was 12, developing hip-hop and electronic beats using music production software like Fruity Loops 3 and Rebirth.

He performed on stage for the first time in 2010 in Minneapolis, and the following year, decided to pursue a musical career full time. He released his first full-length album, “Expanding Minds,” in 2012, and then saw his career blossom the following year when he played Electric Forest and also supported the Big Gigantic Sky High tour.

A concert review says:

“I have been listening to his music for awhile now but wasn't sure how it would be live. It was really dope! Not sure if he is always with a live drummer but that definitely added to it. Love the dj/drummer combo.”

Manic Focus will be at the Buffalo Iron Works on May 17. Organizers often use poster printing to create advertising for events like this.
