An artist critics say is rewriting the rules of country music is coming to Buffalo.

Austin Martin is a native of Billings, Montana, and has been inspired by the music and approach of other notable artists. He blends George Strait’s gift for storytelling, the lyricism of John Mayer, Elvis’s magnetic stage presence, and a dash of Willie Nelson’s grit. This combination, as odd as it seems, has resulted in a new, unique sound that has brought thousands of people into Martin’s fanbase.

His style includes everything from urban beats to modern trap, blended with traditional instrumental styling, presented with hip-hop country and flow. The result is both unusual and authentic. Martin has performed across the country in venues from Los Angeles to New York City, and has exploded online, where he has nearly a quarter-million monthly Spotify listeners, and his music is heard millions of times across various platforms.

He often performs as a solo act, but also frequently appears with his band, The Herd, which first got together in 2021 and tours as Austin Martin and The Herd. When the group started out, they say, they understood what it was like to be hungry. Now, when they’re on the road, they often spend time at local foodbanks, donating to support them and helping to bag groceries.
