Silverstein first got together in Burlington in 2000, naming themselves after Shel Silverstein, the famous children’s author, whom the band members had all read and admired as children. To date, they have released 11 albums and have two more in the planning stages. They have also dropped six EPs, two live albums, three compilation albums, 13 singles, and 28 music videos. They play screamo, indie rock, emo, and post-hardcore.
Silverstein’s second album, “Discovering the Waterfront,” was a moderate success. It peaked at No. 34 on the Billboard 200 chart and was nominated for a Juno Award. Their next two albums also charted at about the same position on the charts. Their 2020 album, “A Beautiful Place to Drown,” was nominated for a Juno Award for “Best Rock Album” in 2021. The band has worldwide album sales of more than one million units. A review says:

Thursday, Split Chain, and more are on the bill with Silverstein. Thursday plays post-hardcore, and Split Chain combines nu-metal, grunge, and shoegaze, making both bands a good fit with Silverstein.
