The Buffalo Heritage Press just released a new children's book about all the things to do in the city. “Buffalo From A to Z: Come Take a Tour With Me” launched at Parkside Candies.
The book is the creation of Kristin Madej-Warham and Brigette Atlas-Callahan, who both teach in the Niagara Wheatfield Central School District. They were inspired to write the book by a desire to encourage kids to read, learn about Buffalo, and remain in the city.
Atlas-Callahan said both she and Madej-Warham love Buffalo, and wanted to make sure their students knew how much it had to offer. Organizers of events like this can use banner printing to decorate the venue of the launch.
The guide for the tour of the city and its attractions is Bob Uffalo, who as his name suggests is a buffalo, created by Bill Jankowski, who illustrated the book. The young buffalo guides children through some of the historic, fun, iconic, and cultural treasures of the city, from the Buffalo Zoo (of course) to the Albright-Knox Art Gallery.
Several photographers contributed their work to the book, some taking photos of the city, and others getting shots of children. One of these youngsters, Elliot Paone, saw his photo and thought it was ‘cool’. Another photo is an overhead shot of a performance of ‘Much Ado About Nothing’ at Shakespeare in Delaware Park, captured by a drone.
