Campbell closed Filigrees on New Year’s Day, and reopen it as a hula-hoop store.
The space, which opened in 2010, was first known as Nobody's Art Center and became a gathering place for Buffalo's independent musicians and artists, as well as DIY enthusiasts. It was also a must-see spot for visitors to the Buffalo Infringement Festival. In 2011, Campbell created Filigrees, which served as a shop and space for independent artists to share their talents. However, Campbell, who is the organizer of ‘Hoopathon’, has found greater success selling hula-hoops, and has decided to concentrate on that business.
To that end, Campbell has reopened Filigrees as Buffalo Hoop and Wellness, which she describes as:
“…an open group for learning and developing a wellness practice with health-conscious people.”
Like many other business owners, Campbell has been waiting for development in the area, and decided to open the new venture because of the increasing popularity of the hula-hoop.
She notes that since hoops, and the classes and parties based on them, have become more popular, opening the shop is a natural progression from the previous artistic one. She looks forward to sharing the fun she has with the hoops with her friends and customers.
Campbell might consider working with Stationery printers to create colorful new letterhead for her new shop.
