Buffalo fundraiser to center on beloved drink

A fundraiser that combines a great cause with great taste is on the way to Buffalo.

For the fifth year, the Buffalo Bloody Mary Fest, which is hosted by Step Out Buffalo, will give residents a chance to pick the best Bloody Marys in the city. During the festival, 10 restaurants and bars from the local area will gather in one location and compete to be selected as the creators of “Buffalo's Most Creative Bloody Mary,” “Buffalo's Best Traditional Bloody Mary,” and simply, “Buffalo's Best Bloody Mary.” The winners will be chosen by those who attend the festival.

Attendees will be given 10 tickets that will allow them to taste a fully-garnished Bloody Mary sample from each of the ten participating vendors. In addition, there is a Mimosa Bar where patrons can build their own version of the drink. Vendors will be on hand, and there will be competitions including a Garnish Tower Building Competition and a Bloody Mary Chugging Contest. A live DJ will provide music for dancing, and there will be a photo booth so people can share memories of the event.

The Bloody Mary Fest is set for March 8, from 12:00 pm until 4:00 pm, at Buffalo Riverworks on Ganson Street, with all proceeds going to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Tickets will not be available at the event, but should be purchased at Eventbrite. Events like this can benefit if organizers use flyer printing to create a handout listing vendors.
