Walter Trout began his career in the 1960s in New Jersey, then moved to Los Angeles where he worked with music greats such as John Lee Hooker. During the period between 1981 and 1984, he played with Canned Heat as their lead guitarist, and then hooked up with John Mayall's Bluesbreakers, where he played lead guitar from 1984 to 1989.
In 1989, Trout parted ways with the Bluesbreakers to form his own group, the Walter Trout Band. The band developed a following in Europe, particularly Scandinavia, and played festivals such as Skanderborg and Midtfyns. Trout dropped his US debut album “Walter Trout” in 1998, which proved to be his breakthrough. He has continued to record and tour, performing in India, Australia, Europe, and Central and North America.
In 2019, Planet Rock listeners named Trout the #5 artist on a list of the “Top 20 Greatest Blues Artists of All Time.”
