Bluegrass band to play Buffalo

An acoustic bluegrass band is on the way to Buffalo.

The Infamous Stringdusters are an acoustic/bluegrass group that first gained notice in 2006 when they released an extended play CD, “The Infamous Stringdusters,” comprising five songs. The next year, they released their award-winning debut bluegrass album, “Fork in the Road.” Bluegrass is a uniquely American roots music genre that developed in the Appalachians during the 1940s.

The group comprises Travis Book on double bass, Jeremy Garrett on fiddle, Chris Pandolfi on banjo, guitarist Andy Falso, and Andy Hall on a Dobro guitar. The group is known for their distinctive and complex sound that features a bluegrass theme.

In 2007, at the International Bluegrass Music Association Awards Ceremony, the band received three awards: Song of the Year, for “Fork in the Road”; Album of the Year, also for “Fork in the Road,” and Emerging Artist of the Year. Awards and nominations kept rolling in. Their song “Magic No. 9” from their “Things That Fly” album was nominated for a Grammy for Best Country Instrumental Performance, and in 2018, they won the Grammy for Best Bluegrass Album, “Laws of Gravity.” They got another nomination in the same category in 2021, for “A Tribute to Bill Monroe.”
