Everclear formed in 1995 in Portland, founded by Art Alexkis who served as lead vocalist, songwriter, and guitarist. The band released “World of Noise,” their debut, independently, and then signed with Capitol Records.
They released their first three albums on that label, 1995’s “Sparkle and Fade,” “So Much for the Afterglow,” dropped in 1997, and 2000’s “Songs from an American Movie Vol. One: Learning How to Smile.” The RIAA certified all three albums as Platinum. However, the next two albums were not as successful, and the original lineup changed.
After performing briefly as a solo artist, Alexkis reformed the group, and Everclear dropped additional studio albums. Their second 2000 album, “Songs from an American Movie Vol. Two: Good Time for a Bad Attitude” was certified Gold, but 2003’s “Slow Motion Daydream,” while reaching a higher chart position, did not sell as well.
They released albums in 2006, 2012 and 2015, and joined other alternative rock bands on the Summerland Tour, delighting their fans.
Alexkis cites Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen, the Replacements, the Beatles, and others as influences. A review says:
“The band was super high energy, super fit and bounding around the stage, engaging the crowd a ton, acting like rock stars and having a blast.”
Everclear will perform at Electric City in Buffalo on March 11. Performances like this can benefit if organizers work with poster printing methods to create advertising to support them.
