Williamsville workshop to introduce cold weather camping

While many consider camping to be a warm weather activity, it can also be a lot of fun during the winter, and a Williamsville area workshop is on offer for Scouts who accept the challenge.

The WNY Scout Council Training Team offers an assortment of learning opportunities for its members and leaders, and one that will be held in January will cover camping in cold weather. It will be designed for those who have little to no experience, and it will take place in a classroom setting.

The activity will cover an assortment of topics, and it's been prepared so that it's appropriate for almost any age. It will introduce topics such as shelter building in the wilderness, clothing choice for keeping warm, nutrition during cold weather, health and safety and also sleep systems. The registration fee is $15, and this includes lunch and water. The attendees should bring their own snacks. The final date to sign up is January 9th.

Being well prepared for an outdoor activity can make it a lot more fun as well as safe. Learning materials, whether they will be used indoors or out, can be prepared by area Stationery printers.

This Williamsville area introduction to a winter outdoor activity will be on offer on January 13th. It is scheduled for Queen of Heaven School in West Seneca.
