Secaucus residents to receive free cancer screenings

The Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center is offering residents in Secaucus free neck and head cancer screenings on next week. The event will take place at the outpatient cancer center located in Monmouth County.

As the best chance for curing some cancers is to find it early, the screenings, accompanied by a 10-minute exam by the nurse on duty, may save a life. Cancers in the head or neck often occur in the mouth, voice box, throat, or nasal passages. Each year, thousands of new cases are diagnosed, most of which can be cured with early detection. The screening process looks at each of these areas.

Adults who smoke, spend great amounts of time in the sun, or drink are encouraged to take advantage of the free screenings. Anyone with frequent nose bleeds, constant nasal congestion, sore throat, voice changes, or neck lumps should be checked out. It is a painless, free, and worthwhile process.

Poster printing is a service provided by local printing services for events such as this type. Posters will include the information and location of the activity and can be posted in various spots.

The screenings are open from 8:00 am until 3:00 pm on Thursday, July 26. Appointments are recommended, although walk-ins are welcome. Contact MSK Monmouth, a member of the Memorial Sloan Kettering-Hackensack Meridian Health Partnership, for more details.
