Revamped Secaucus fire station will soon be open for business

Secaucus’s oldest fire company has been undertaking renovations to its station, and they will soon be complete.

The town’s Mayor, Michael Gonnelli, recently reported that after more than two years, the upgrades and enhancements are almost finished, and the facility should be up and running within a month.

The firehouse, which is located at 272 County Avenue, is 111 years old. The expansion was made possible through the purchase of a parcel of land next to the building. Mayor Gonnelli noted that, as the area of town in which it is located has expanded rapidly in recent years, it was important for the firefighting infrastructure to grow along with it. Banners can be printed for hanging as decorations during ribbon cutting and grand opening ceremonies for the building.

The new firehouse will be nearly twice as large as it was before, and it will serve as the de facto headquarters for the two volunteer fire departments in Secaucus. It now has space for three fire engines, and it will have tankers and engines. In order to help with any water-based activities or rescues, a plan had been made for it to also eventually house a boat.

The building will now have a revamped fitness area, recreation room, new bathrooms and showers, a balcony and a kitchen. It also has a room for conferences and space for a classroom.
