Various regional and local representatives from different green organizations provided parents with products and information. Attendees were able to sample local raw honey at an exhibit by the New Jersey Beekeepers Association, and could then learn how to set up their own beehives. East Coast Falconry Services brought Ozzy, the European Eagle Owl, for kids to admire, and a butterfly area allowed people to feed and frolic among monarch butterflies.
Yet another exhibit offered free seeds and planting advice. Representatives from Coca-Cola were present, fulfilling a portion of the company’s global sustainability campaign by offered residents recycled syrup drums that had been fashioned into rain collection barrels at no charge. These were just the right size and shape to be used as water collectors.
Laurie Rivlin Caspert of You Gotta Have Art, a child-focused art initiative, spoke fondly of her experiences in the area. She said:
“We have gone to so many towns. They’re nothing like Secaucus. The mayor here is amazing, and they have family events every weekend.”
