Submarine to be commissioned in Red Bank area

The USS New Jersey Commissioning Committee will be partnering with the Monmouth County Board of County Commissioners to host the Commissioning Ceremony of the USS New Jersey in April.

This event will be held at the Naval Weapons Station Earle, in Sandy Hook Bay in Middletown. Residents of nearby Red Bank will not want to miss this once-in-a-lifetime event as the state will have the rare honor of holding the commissioning for a vessel that bears the name of the state.

There will be a lottery for those who wish to attend this historical event. The deadline to enter the lottery is Sunday January 14. Poster printing can be used to inform residents and those in neighboring communities of such a lottery if they are interested in attending such a special event.

Thomas A. Arnone, Commissioner Director, said that commissioning a vessel is a historic ceremony for vessels that will join the United States Navy. He expressed his honor that the USS New Jersey Commissioning Committee and the United States Navy have chosen this area for this very exciting event. He added that this event will not only support the military but will be of great economic benefit to the small businesses in the area that will be offering goods and services to service members, visitors, and residents from before to after the ceremony.

The commissioning will be on Saturday April 6.
