Special veterans event on offer in Red Bank

The Borough of Red Bank, the Red Bank Elks Lodge, and HABcore will be partnering to host an event to support the veterans who are homeless in the community.

This event will be a luncheon at the Red Bank Elks Lodge on West Front Street. This luncheon will provide an opportunity to raise funds for those who are experiencing homelessness and for attendees to reflect on the sacrifices made by veterans.

Such events and their efforts to raise awareness about such issues often turn to poster printing to promote themselves.

Major Joshua Zagero of the United States Marine Corps will be the special guest speaker. He is a graduate of Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School and served aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt. He flew 43 combat missions during Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.

A mother and resident of HABcore, Ilissa M., who is a veteran of the army, will also speak and share her experiences of reaching housing stability to achieve a secure and safe life. She is a proud veteran who is looking forward to telling her story. Recognition will also be given to Joe Perotto, USMC (Ret.) of Fair Haven, the Red Bank Elks Veterans Committee, and Blue Stra Moms for their contributions to the veterans’ community.

The luncheon will take place at noon on Monday, November 11 following the Veterans Day Ceremony at Riverside Gardens Park in Red Bank.
