The annual Back to School Drive is being held this year in Red Bank. It is sponsored by Lunch Break and its goal is to help the many schoolchildren and their families who are financially insecure and rely on the social service center for the necessities of life, including school supplies.
Lunch Break holds a Community Picnic at Count Basie Field where Backpacks with school supplies are handed out to children in need for the upcoming school year. Picnic-type food will be served, as well as healthy options that align with the “Healthy Together” Nutrition Initiative of Lunch Break. There will also be games and the annual softball championship.
Donations for the backpacks are being accepted by Lunch Break. Items that can be donated include looseleaf binders, pencils and Pens, paper, erasers, and other traditional items. These items can be delivered to the Lunch Break Warehouse in Shrewsbury.
Such organizations can take advantage of poster printing to promote such events and their benefit to the community.
Gwendolyn Love, Executive Director of Lunch Break, expressed her gratitude to the community for their generosity and helping children prepare for a successful school year. She added that these necessary supplies are part of the way the community can help to motivate and engage youth in the learning experience.
The picnic will be held on Saturday, August 19 from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm.
