Red Bank non-profit to benefit from local art auction

A summer art auction will be held by the Kelly-McKenna Gallery in Spring Lake.

The event will benefit Lunch Break, a non-profit organization based in Red Bank that provides clothing, food, life skills, housing solutions, and support to individuals and families in need.

The auction features original works donated by local and regional artists. Owner of the gallery, Caitlin Kelly-McKenna, expressed her honor in offering the gallery as a space for the summer art auction for Lunch Break. She said that that is an event that brings members of the community and artists together to show their support for the organization.

Such events and their fundraising effort can be promoted throughout a town and neighboring communities with poster printing.

Maura Creekmore and Caroline O’Connell developed the idea of an art auction for Lunch Break to help raise funds for the organization. The event has grown every year with help from local venues such as DefinedLogic and Detour Gallery. Artist Kevin Leahy said that since the auction started, it has raised over $100,000.

Online bidding for the pieces begins at noon today, July 10. There will be a gallery reception at the Kelly-McKenna Gallery on 3rd Avenue in Spring Lake from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, July 17, where there will be complimentary refreshments and appetizers. The auction closes immediately after this.
