The National Science Foundation has awarded Brookdale Community College in Lincroft a grant to create the Electric Vehicle Education for New Jersey (EVE-NJ) project.
This funding will transform automotive education in the state by enabling electric vehicle (EV) technology to be integrated in the curriculum. This may be of interest to students in nearby Red Bank who are looking to enhance their automotive skills.
Chair of the Automotive Technology department, Professor Ivan Anderson, and Dean of the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) Institute, Dr. James Crowdcr, are leading this new project. The project will prepare students with the needed skills in maintenance and repair of electric vehicles.
The $561,318 funds will enable eight courses in the automotive technology certificate and degree programs at Brookdale to be revised to integrate governing standards of electric vehicles. In addition, a certificate of five courses in EDV repair and service will be developed and will offer both foundational and advanced opportunities for training. Students completing these programs will ensure that students have the skills they need for careers in EV technology.
Brochure printing can be used to provide more detailed information about such programs and their requirements.
The program will also create partnerships with those in the industry including FutureTech, Electrified Transportation Pro, New Jersey Business & Industry Association, and Amazing Women in Automotive, to establish internships and pathways for employment.
