The ground has been broken on THRIVE Red Bank, a Neuroinclusive Apartment Building, which is considered to be the first of its kind.

THRIVE Red Bank is on Shrewsbury Avenue. It will be three stories tall and span 34,000 square feet. It will have 32 apartments for independent living. There will be amenities on the first floor such as a teaching kitchen, a shared community engagement space, a sensory space, and a health and wellness space, among others. There will be five affordable housing units, and the remaining 27 units will be private pay apartments.

Parents With a Plan, a non-profit organization, will run the management of the property and the supportive amenities will be run by the Rutgers Center for Adult Autism Services (RCAAS). This is an innovative private/public partnership with RCAAS that will create a new standard of excellence in neuroinclusive housing. The highly trained clinical staff and the Rutgers senior faculty will provide high-quality care while students will receive intensive supervision and hands-on training.

The Founding Executive Director of RCAAS, Christopher Manente, PhD, said that the project is more than about a building but creating a community and is a testament to collaboration.

The project is expected to open in 2027.
