Stevensville to give presentation on smart salt use

The Queen Anne's County Master Gardeners of the University of Maryland Extension will hold a presentation in January at a Stevensville Library.

Those interested in learning how to properly use salt to combat winter conditions can attend a discussion at the Kent Island Branch of the Queen Anne's County Library. Being Salt Smart is a presentation that will show guests the right amount of salt to use when preparing local sidewalks, roads, and parking lots. Attendees will also learn how salt keeps people safe during snowy seasons. The event will be led by Dr. Andrew Lazur, an extension specialist with expertise in drinking water quality, pond management, and septic systems.

The Queen Anne's County Master Gardeners is a group of volunteer educators who teach Maryland residents about safe and sustainable horticulture practices. The lessons offered by the organization can help people create healthy gardens and landscapes. Schools, libraries, and other community facilities can request the Master Gardeners to give presentations. People can also send questions to the group on topics like how to get rid of weeds.

The presentation will be on Thursday, January 16th at from 10:30 am to 11:30 am. There is no cost for people to learn about safe salt practices from Dr. Lazur, and registration is not needed. University organizations like this can promote their educational seminars to the public by using flyer printing services to make distributable ads.
