A neighboring town to Stevensville will be holding a fishing competition in order to support a cause in early August.
Grasonville will play host to the 5th Annual CBEC Little Bobbers Fishing Derby. This event will help with the cause of creating oyster beds and reefs in the Chesapeake Bay through fundraising. This contest is set to introduce children to fishing as well.
An adult must attend with each child. Participants will have the option to use equipment provided if they request them during registration, or to bring their own. Some other activities that everyone can try include hiking, beach exploration, and kayak rentals. Everyone must register in order to participate.
The derby is for kids who are ages three to nine. Thanks to event sponsors, there is no fee to enter and register. The contest will only be allowed to take place in CBEC ponds, which will likely be marked with signage containing the event Logo Design. Participants should arrive by 9:30 am to check in and choose their spot within the ponds. All the fishing is catch and release, so nobody will be allowed to keep what they catch in the event.
The fun-filled day will take place from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. The organizer and host is the Chesapeake Bay Environmental Center. The date of the derby is August 7.
