Dog walking fundraiser in Catonsville

Catonsville residents have a chance soon to raise money for a good cause while they walk their dogs.

Paradise Animal Hospital is celebrating its 30th anniversary by helping to raise funds for the Animal Alliance Rescue Foundation of Baltimore. Those who would like to take part will find themselves enjoying a two-mile walk, from the parking lot at the animal hospital to the Short Line Trail, and back again.

The Short Line Trail is one of the trails that has been developed from previous railroad rights-of-way. In this case, it follows the route of the Short Line Railroad that once ran for about 3.5 miles from what is now Loudon Park to Catonsville, over the Baltimore and Potomac Railroad (Amtrak today). Banner printing can be used by organizers of events like this to create markers that show the course of the walk.

The Animal Alliance Rescue Foundation of Baltimore is a non-profit, all-volunteer Baltimore organization that promotes the rescue and eventual adoption into forever homes of homeless, abused, abandoned, and neglected animals.

As of this writing, the dog walk is scheduled for June 13, from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm. Paradise Animal Hospital is located at 6350 Frederick Road in Catonsville. The entry fee for a human adult is $25, while children are free. In addition, anybody who makes an extra donation to the hospital will be entered in a raffle for prizes, including four admission tickets for the National Aquarium.
