CCBC in Catonsville among schools receiving grants

Maryland recently announced that the state's Board of Public Works has approved seven agreements for capital grants that total more than $18.1m.

The funds will go to pay for projects that are considered essential at five institutions of higher education. Among those schools that will receive funding is the Catonsville Campus of the Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC), as well as its Essex Campus.

The overall aim of providing the grants is to help the organizations expand, renovate, or update their facilities to increase the services they are able to provide to their communities. Expansions such as this can mean many changes in the way an institution operates, so administrators could work with a brochure printing company to create updated course Catalogs to reflect the new operations.

CCBC in Catonsville will receive two grants that add up to more than $7m. The funds will be used to replace switchgear that is vital for the institution to operate normally. Some of the funding will be used to expand and renovate the Carol Eustis Center for Health Professions, on the Essex Campus. The center is home to the School of Applied and Information Technology, the School of Health Professions, and more.

The other four institutions to receive funding are Garrett College in McHenry, Frederick Community College in Frederick, Howard Community College in Columbia, and the College of Southern Maryland in Indian Head.
