Due to repairs scheduled at the Towson District Courthouse, personnel there are moving to quarters in Catonsville temporarily.
The HVAC system in Towson will be repaired later this year, and in the meantime, operations and staff will move into the new Catonsville District Courthouse. There is no exact date yet for the move, but it will be announced soon.
Signs have been put up in the current courthouse in Towson, letting people who have business in the courthouse that the location will be changing soon. All the services currently provided in Towson, including the commissioner's office, will be in Catonsville for about six months.
The Chief Judge of the District Court of Maryland, Judge John P. Morrissey, said it was unfortunate that the court and its staff have to move, but the Maryland judicial system is committed to making sure services will continue uninterrupted at the new location, and that both staff and the public will be safe.
There are three District Courts in Baltimore County, in Towson, Essex, and Catonsville. While Towson takes over the new Catonsville Courthouse temporarily, the current courthouse in Catonsville will remain fully operational.
Residents can email the court with any concerns they have about the temporary move, using the towsontempmove@mdcourts.gov address. There will be Signs, transportation guides, and FAQ sheets available at all the district courthouses in the county. Print shops can provide all the materials needed in situations like this.
