Alpharetta workshop to focus on mental health first aid

Just as with the rest of the body, there are times when the mind can use some immediate help. The participants in the upcoming Mental Health First Aid course will learn skills they can use to assist others in times of crisis, and it is being offered right in the Alpharetta area.

The participants in the eight-hour training session will all learn how they can help someone who is experiencing a mental health emergency to connect with professional resources and other supports. It will also teach them how to recognize warning Signs that someone may be in crisis, so that they can receive help as soon as possible.

The organizers of the workshop explained that this taught to people all over the country, and it is intended for all community members, whether they have any healthcare experience or not. Those who register are asked to bring along a lunch and snacks, as there will be breaks scheduled throughout the day.

At the conclusion of the workshop, the learners will be given course completion certificates. A printer's graphic design department will be able to craft items like these, along with small, wallet-sized cards that also indicate the holder has completed the training.

This course is being offered on April 6, and will be hosted by the North Springs United Methodist Church in Sandy Springs. It will begin at 8:00 am sharp and will continue until 5:00 pm, so students are asked to arrive on time.
