Special needs community invited to learn about the law

The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office will once again be partnering with a local community service organization to offer an adapted version of the Sheriff's Citizen’s Academy. This popular event will welcome adults with special needs who want to learn more about law enforcement.

Help Us Gather (H.U.G.) will be working with the Sheriff's Department to host a function that will give them an insider’s view into the day to day operations of local law enforcement. This experience is open to Pinellas Park residents, and people of all ability levels are encouraged to take part.

The attendees will get a sneak peek into the operation of the Sheriff's Department, and will meet some of its canine service members. There will also be self-defence demonstrations, an opportunity to step inside a law enforcement vehicle and lots of other fun. The goal is to foster positive interactions between police and the special needs members of the community it serves, and it is reserved to those who are at least 18 years of age.

By giving officers an opportunity to interact with people living with physical, developmental and other challenges, offering a program like this can benefit both law enforcement and the general public. A banner printing company can be counted on to prepare Banners, Signs and other large items that can help make functions like these run smoothly.

The third instalment of the H.U.G. Pinellas County Sheriff’s Citizens Academy is set to be on offer on September 12th. It will be taking place at the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office.
