Pinellas Park workshop to offer insight into rainwater collection

A Pinellas Park workshop will demonstrate how simple it can be to reuse rainwater, and it is free to participate.

The J.W. Cate (NW) Recreation Center in St. Petersburg will be the location for a class that will demonstrate how it is possible to collect hundreds of gallons of water when it rains. The St. Petersburg utility customers who attend the session may qualify to receive a free rain barrel, which they can use as the water collection vessel for their own system.

The organizers of the class explained that there are many benefits to storing rainwater for future use. It can be used as a source of outdoor drinking water, and using it to water a garden can reduce the drain on local water supplies. Rain gardens will also be included in the discussion, and when it is time to go home, the goal is for each participant to have a better understanding of how they can set up their own rainwater collection system.

Attending this type of function can be a simple way for members of the public to show the local environment a little care. Printed guides can help them to do even more, and these can be sourced from a printing services company.

This free class will be on offer on December 14. It is scheduled to take approximately two hours.
