Bats are a flying mammal and play an important role in the ecosystems around Pinellas Park. They are often misunderstood, and an upcoming event will explore the lives of these furry fliers.
Tampa Bay Bats spokesperson Francine Prager will serve as the facilitator for ‘The Wild World of Bats’, and she will be sharing her knowledge and expertise. The group will even have an opportunity to meet some friendly bats up close and personal.
The presentation will touch on a variety of topics, and will open with a discussion of the different bat species that can be found in the local area, and also the role they play in the environment. Attendees will find out about how important they are when it comes to controlling insect pests, and Prager will also explore some of the myths that surround these animals.
The workshop is open to all ages, and anyone who has physical, developmental, or other challenges that require a special accommodation are also welcome. They have been asked to contact (727) 464-4062 at least two working days in advance to make arrangements for this. Stationery printers can provide Copies of any handouts that will be distributed during this type of event.
St. Petersburg’s Weedon Island Preserve Cultural and Natural History Center will be hosting this function on August 11. It is scheduled to begin at 10:30 am sharp.
