Pinellas Park asked to walk in support of local food pantry

Pinellas Park residents who are concerned about ensuring that everyone in the county has food on their table will soon have an opportunity to take steps to help make that happen.

Saint Petersburg’s Lealman Park will be the site for the 2018 Walk the Block for Hunger event, and the support of the local community will be much appreciated. According to the planners of the occasion, the goal of the day is to both raise food and funds for the Florida Dream Center food pantry, and also to increase awareness about the issue of the “food deserts” that exist in the county.

Those who participate in the activity will be treated to lunch, and they will also receive a t-shirt that has been specially designed for the day. Promotional Products like this can be sourced from a printer in the local area.

The registration fee for Walk the Block for Hunger is $25 each. Those who plan on participating are asked to also bring along canned and nonperishable food to donate, and this will be distributed to those in need. Walkers, runners, and those who use a wheelchair or other assistive device are all welcome to participate.

This funding and awareness raiser has been planned for April 14. Anyone who would like to register or learn more about the event has been asked to visit its Facebook listing.
