Roadway lighting is an important piece of public safety, and a course that will teach the fundamentals of how to correctly choose, install and maintain this technology is scheduled to be held near Pinellas Park.
The students in the training will learn about the roadway lighting right from the fundamentals on up. Anyone who is interested will need to have either their IMSA Work Zone Traffic Control Safety Certification, or an approved equivalent.
The two-day workshop will begin with the basics of electricity and electrical safety, and the applicable laws that relate to roadway lighting will be reviewed. The construction and maintenance of these lights is on the agenda for discussion, and jurisdictional requirements, energy efficiency, and tips for choosing the right lighting for different areas and situations will also be covered. Testing and troubleshooting will help the participants to keep illumination systems in top shape, and the organizers explained that attending the event will be a good opportunity for anyone who is seeking professional certification.
The registrants in this type of course usually want to learn as much as possible, and Print shops can help to make that happen. They can supply manuals and other texts, handouts, and even certificates to give to each student at the end of the learning.
The Public Works Academy at Pinellas Technical College will be offering this short course starting on July 13th. The fee to take part is $460.
