Pinellas Park has a lot to offer those who would like to become more self-sufficient, and a two-day intensive workshop will help them take the first step.
Those who register for the Urban Homesteading in Person Intensive will discover a variety of ways of creating sustainability even in a small urban setting. The learning will be delivered through a combination of classroom and hands-on activities.
The workshop will kick off with a discussion of how to get a garden set up, and this will include the basics of creating a food going plot. The topic will be covered from the ground floor up, starting with tips for preparing fertile soil before moving on to pest management, seed selection and saving, composting, permaculture, and growing crops such as microgreens and mushrooms.
The workshop will take place over two days, and both will start at 9:00 am and wrap up at 5:00 pm. There will be a break for lunch. Offering the participants in a horticultural-themed activity Promotional Products will encourage them to put their new skills to use in their own backyard.
Tickets are on offer now, priced at $170 each for the two days. The function will be held on January 29 and 30. The Urban Harvest, which is located at 5610 4th Avenue North in St. Petersburg, will be the location for the function.
