A fishing derby will give Pinellas Park kids a chance to land a big one early next month.
Freedom Lake Park will be the location for this year's Kiwanis Annual Kids’ Free Fishing Derby, and prizes will be awarded for the biggest fish, the most fish caught, as well as several other categories. Cast nets are not permitted, and everyone is asked to register when they arrive for the event.
The organizer of the day explained that while worms and poles will be supplied, anyone who would like to bring their own is welcome to do so. A lunch of chips, soda and hot dogs will be served, and a monetary donation to help meet the expense of hosting the function will be most appreciated. The attendees may bring along a folding chair to use while they fish, and parents must accompany their kids.
