Naples Zoo wants help naming babies
Officials at the Naples Zoo at Caribbean Gardens would like the help of the community in naming the newest residents.
Three African lion babies were born at the zoo recently, and community members have a chance to determine their names. People who would like to take part in the fun can post their suggestions on the zoo's Facebook page. Those without access to Facebook are welcome to send an email to the zoo, which will post the name on the person's behalf. The email address is marketing@napleszoo.org.
Zoo officials will select the finalists, and post the suggestions on the zoo's website, where people can vote for their favorites. The winner will receive a prize big enough for a lion, including a membership in the Naples Zoo, four tickets to the upcoming Disney film ‘The Lion King’, a live-action version of the classic animated feature, and more. If there is more than one winner, a drawing will be held to determine who will get the prize. Occasions like this can be enhanced when banner printing is used to create decorations.
Although it is not required, people are encouraged to think of Africa when they choose their names, since these the cubs are African lions. The cubs are not yet on exhibit. Zoo officials says the date of their debut is up to their mother, Shani.
Names may be submitted until the end of the day this Sunday, June 23.
