Naples to highlight first responders
Naples has an event coming up soon that will give residents a chance to learn about their first responders.
The City of Naples First Responders Showcase will feature equipment from both the police and fire departments. The police will show their SWAT vehicle, a patrol car, a bicycle, a motorcycle, and the police command van – a vehicle equipped with radio, television, and other electronics, so that it becomes a mobile version of a police station.
The fire department will teach fire safety, and present classes in Hands-Only CPR. Unlike traditional CPR, this technique has only two steps: call 911, and perform rapid chest compressions on a teen or adult who has collapsed. The method was developed to help people who know CRP, but are concerned to use it because they are no longer sure they remember all the steps.
In addition, the firefighters will have their Fire Safety Trailer, also known as the smoke house, with them. The trailer mimics the conditions found in a burning house, and shows people how to escape safely.
Water safety demonstrations are also planned, so attendees are asked to wear bathing suits so they can join in these lessons, which will be held at the pool.
The showcase is set for October 26, from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm, at the River Park Community Center on 11th Street North. Flyer printing can be used to list equipment and its purpose for events like this.
