Santa’s weather forecasters are predicting snow in Naples.
This will be the 33rd year for Snowfest, the signature event of the Collier County Parks & Recreation Department. The department started the festival in 1985 to give residents of the community the chance to play in the snow even when the weather is in the 80s. The first year, only a few hundred people came, and there were five tons of snow manufactured. Today, Snowfest has as many as 15,000 people in attendance, and is the biggest community gathering in the county.
The Snow Mountains are made of 100 tons of snow, and will be the biggest attraction at Snowfest. In addition to simply getting the chance to play in the snow, a large Rock Wall will be available for climbing, and a Double Snow Slide will send visitors speeding down South West Florida’s biggest Snow Run. An inflatable slide called the Polar Plunge will also prove an exciting ride. Winter clothing, including hats and mittens, is suggested.
There are many other activities planned, including food from Mrs. Claus’s Kitchen, a carnival, a laser battle, dodgeball, and an obstacle course.
No Christmas event is complete without Santa, who will be on hand for photos. He is also bringing the elves from the Workshop, who need some help with their craft projects.
Snowfest takes place December 7, from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm, at Naples’ Golden Gate Community Center. Banner printing can be used to decorate venues at events like this.
