Naples airport halfway through facelift

Florida is a favorite travel destination for many in the U.S. Travel to the Sunshine State might become more attractive, as the local airport is renovating its terminal and improving its ability to support aviation infrastructure.

In its December 18 meeting, the Naples Airport Authority’s Board of Commissioners approved plans for Phase II of its renovation work at the North Road Terminal. The total project cost for both phases will be about $4.4M and will cover a range of improvements, some of which have already been completed. Some of these include new furniture, interior finish work, improvements to the air conditioning system, and repairs to the roof.

Curran Young Construction and Garland received approval for construction services, and Schenkel Schultz was awarded an contract for design and construction administration services. Phase I of the airport renovation project was recently completed; that work centered on storm protection measures, upgraded canopies, and landscaping. Readers interested in more details may view the full project scope at the official airport website.

These mark the first significant updates to the North Road Terminal since 1983. The ambitious renovation effort is self-funded, as the Naples Airport receives no local taxpayer support. Revenue streams supporting the project include fuel sales, car rentals, and related projects. Officials hope to have all construction completed by the end of 2026.
