Foodie Camp planned for Naples

A group of local restaurateurs is getting ready to hold their annual fundraiser, no doubt much to the delight of foodies.

Naples Originals is preparing its 5th Annual Naples Foodie Camp. The event gives culinary students a chance to interact personally with restaurant owners and chefs, observing their techniques. Proceeds go to support the scholarships offered by Naples Originals to students at the hospitality school at Florida Gulf Coast University. Sales also help support culinary training at St. Matthews House, according to Beth Preddy, Naples Originals’ spokesperson.

The organization created and puts on the Foodie Camp event, which has raised over $40,000 for its programs since it began in 2015. No fewer than 14 chefs will participate this year, including Jason Goddard of Barbatella and Asif Syed of 21 Spices. Talented cooks are still signing up to participate.

Naples Originals comprises locally owned, independent restaurants. Among them, they provide a wide range of service, culinary style, and ambience. The members believe an independent, lively community of restaurants makes a city a better place to work and live. The group wants to encourage residents and visitors to patronize local restaurants rather than national chains, as studies have shown that doing so can put three times as much money back into the city’s economy.

Foodie Camp will be held October 21-30, at various locations throughout the city. Brochure printing can be used to create pamphlets about events like this.
