Developer makes changes to Naples project

After hearing from members of the local community, a developer has altered its original plans for the Naples Beach Hotel.

The Athens Group, the developer, said its plans call for razing the hotel and building a smaller resort that includes a residential condo project. A vote is expected on the issue soon, after having been postponed once to allow the developer to respond to questions and requests from residents and the city.

After hearing the comments, Athens made a number of changes to its original ideas, including agreeing that it will build a maximum of 94 dwelling units, which it will site on Gulf Shore Boulevard North’s west side. It also agreed to provide a declaration preserving the existing golf course in perpetuity as a green space. Companies handling matters like this can use brochure printing to create informative materials for residents.

The Athens Group’s CEO, Kim Richards, said he takes residents’ comments seriously and has made the changes because of their concerns. He said he believes the project is a viable and balanced plan that makes a number of improvements, and develops the site responsibly. The plan preserves open space that totals over 100 acres, and places parking under the new buildings which should reduce traffic. Athens also plans to landscape Gulf Shore Boulevard.

It’s expected the city will approve the project with the new modifications.
