Cleanup set for Naples and local area

Both residents and visitors to Naples and the surrounding areas are invited to a cleanup event soon.

Keep Collier Beautiful is behind the effort to keep local areas in the county beautiful by picking up trash. Anyone who would like to help may either take part at any of the designated sites throughout Collier County, or assemble a group of friends and choose their own location. If the group comprises ten people or more, it will have to register in advance.

The cleanup is a signature event for the Ocean Conservancy, which gets volunteers together in countries throughout the world to participate in the International Coastal Cleanup. There are three main areas Naples residents might like to work in: Everglades City, where they can clean up Immokalee, the Ten Thousand Islands National Wildlife Refuge, or Everglades City downtown; the area on and around Marco Island, where the Isles of Capri and Tigertail Beach are on the list; and the Naples area proper.

In Naples and the local area, the cleanup sites are

Florida Southwestern State College's Adopted Canal

Naples Cruise Club to Keywaydin Island

Golden Gate Canals

Rookery Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve

Haldeman Creek

Naples Bay (Naples Sailing & Yacht Club)

Clam Pass

Naples Pier

The cleanup effort is scheduled for September 19, from 8.00 am until 11.00 am. Banner printing can be used to develop Signs marking sites for cleanup at events like this.
