In March, prominent NBA player Ray Allen and wife Shannon Allen are opening an organic fast food restaurant called GROWN in South Miami.
Walker Allen, the couple’s nine-year old son, lives with Type 1 diabetes, which means a nutritious diet is particularly important to his welfare. Prompted by Walker’s struggles to eat well while leading an active lifestyle, the Allens decided to take the initiative and open the first fast-food establishment geared toward healthy food.
Letting potential patrons know about the health benefits of the new restaurant either by the use of Flyers in the area, or Direct Mail printing to locals, could help the establishment get off to a good start.
Through her position as the creator and executive producer of The Pre-Game Meal, a cooking show on Comcast SportsNet, Shannon Allen was able to put together a team of nutrition experts. In partnership with those experts, including Todd Kiley from Rainforest Café, the Allens developed GROWN’s menu.
The latest healthy addition to Miami’s culinary scene will include breakfast, lunch, and dinner items with prices ranging from $4 to $18. Available for consumption on the premises (as well as to go and via drive-through) will be sandwiches, wraps, salads, soups, and gluten-free baked goods as well as fruit smoothies, cold-pressed juices, and coffee.
Environmentally friendly in construction and operation, GROWN will also feature a rooftop kitchen garden.
