A cruise has been scheduled for Biscayne Bay in Miami that will give those who participate a unique chance to learn more about the history of the local area.
Cynthia Toledo, who is a Miami historian and educator, will be leading the excursion as it goes by Cape Florida Lighthouse, Stillsville, and the lush islands that dot the bay. As the boat cruises along, passengers will be able to enjoy watching the wildlife, and may even spot manatees, dolphins, and other marine creatures.
During the excursion, Toledo will lead a discussion about the history of the native peoples who called the area home, as well as the local ecology and what efforts are being made to protect it. A company that supplies printing services will be able to provide a variety of items that can help promote an excursion like this to the public.
Those who plan or participating in the boat trip are asked to leave their photographic and audio recording equipment behind, and simply relax and enjoy the ride.
The cruise will leave from Miamarina at Bayside Marketplace at 10:00 am on November 5. Tickets start at $25 for children under 12 and $45 for adults. Since there is limited seating available, the organizers recommend that those who plan on taking park purchase their tickets early.
