Miami residents invited to early 20th Century-style holiday festivities

Miami’s Vizcaya Museum & Gardens will once be hosting a specially planned holiday celebration.

The home was completed in 1916 by James Deering, and this will be the theme for the event. It will feature a tree that has been decorated in 1920s holiday style. Fruit and candy made from glass, popcorn, multicolored birds and Boxes of animal crackers will all be used in creating the display. The dining table will also be decorated in the same theme, with red crystal glasses and period fine china, and also an arrangement of orchids. Garlands made from ivy and lights will also be utilized as decorative accents for the occasion.

Since this will be the 100th year since the home was completed, the organizers have planned for the event to be extra special. It will include period music played on the pipe organ and other live entertainment, appetizers, hot chocolate, and dessert. Guests will also be able to take a piece of the festivities home with them by creating their own wreaths and garlands, which will be crafted using native plants and materials. A printer can provide extra touches such as historic-themed Holiday Cards that can be suitable for an event like this.

The celebration will be held on December 14 from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm. Tickets start at $20 for adults and $15 for children, with special discounts being offered for those who also purchase a Vizcaya membership. Further details and an opportunity to buy tickets can be found on the event’s website.
