Miami Beach announces plans for annual Pop Festival

Miami Beach commissioners approved a special permit to allow the organizers of the Miami Beach Pop Festival to hold an annual concert in their city.

The festival is being promoted as a “world-class music event” that will bring thousands of attendees to the greater Miami area.

There are several parties involved in the effort including the event producer Donald Lockerbie, Frameless Creative LLC members Steve Sybesma and Paul Peck, and the Okeechobee Music & Arts Festival co-founders.

With the intention to bring in big name musical acts, organizers have presented plans to both the police and fire departments to ensure the safety of festival attendees and to help support with traffic concerns. It is also likely event organizers, vendors and musical acts will use print shops to obtain various promotional products and printing services to stock up on what they will need to support the festival.

The event is slated to take place over a three-day weekend with attendance each day expected to be about 35,000. Organizers are looking to align this festival with the likes of other well-known concerts such as Coachella and Outside Lands.

The current approval covers a three-year period, with the first festival scheduled for November 8 through 10. The event will be held on South Beach and although the plans were approved for three years, the city has the right to determine after the first event if any more should be held.
