On August 20, Miami-Dade’s library administrators made available a draft for new county library schedules.
Thanks to an anticipated budgetary increase, seven-day service will be restored to the largest of the county’s branches while seven smaller branches will gain a sixth day. Additionally, there are plans to increase the library system’s acquisitions budget and expand routes for the Bookmobiles.
The two-page draft also detailed other possible improvements, such as making wireless printing available for 10 libraries. Also expanding technology by developing a ‘Geek Squad’ for high-need areas of the county, as well as including the South Dade branch in its YouMedia program were mentioned.
Communities rely on libraries for a variety of services, and libraries often rely on Print companies to provide them with brochure, flyer, and poster printing services so they can keep the public informed about what they have to offer.
Following the library tax cuts that occurred in 2011, the Miami-Dade library system has had to draw on cash reserves, which are forecast to be drained by October 1, when the new budget year commences. County commissioners in July gave the go ahead for an increase in the library tax in the fall. The increase, however, will only add $3m to its $50m budget. Michael Spring, the cultural director for Miami-Dade has emphasized that the improvements are still in the planning stage.Get a Free Quote for Print
