The 6th Annual Live Like Jake 5k Run/Walk is now taking place in September at Abacoa Town Center in Jupiter, having been moved from its original date of May 9.
This event will be a fundraiser to financially help local families that have children in need of critical care and scholarships for self-rescue swim lessons.
The USATF certified 5k course will be 3.1 miles over flat asphalt running through Jupiter’s Abaca community. The run will be electronically chip-timed. Jake’s Mile will be a family-friendly walk suitable for all ages.
For those who cannot make the race, there will be a Virtual 5K Run/Walk that will allow participants to run the required miles at a time and place selected by the runner. Pictures, training logs or any other proof needs to be placed on the event’s Facebook page.
All participants will receive finisher medals, performance T-Shirts and visors sporting the Live like Jake graphic design. All entrants will receive medals.
Awards will be given in overall, Grandmasters, and Masters female and male first place finishers. Medals will also be given in five-year age divisions for both male and female participants.
The exact date in September on which the run will take place has yet to be confirmed, so the best advice is to follow the event’s website and Facebook page for updates.
