Local kids prepare for a day at the seashore

Jupiter Light house will be holding a special event, SeaFest for kids, to entertain the little ones later this month.

This will be a family-friendly day of exploring the waterfront, checking out all things maritime, listening to live music, and navigating the lighthouse.

Both children and their parents can enjoy educational opportunities to learn more about the sea. Some animals that will be highlighted will be whales, manatees, and sea turtles. Treasure hunts will be interspersed throughout the day, and everyone will get to enjoy adventures that celebrate Jupiter’s history and coastal heritage. Water safety discussions and demonstrations will also be part of the day’s exhibitions.

Little ones can meet characters from the town’s past, including the possibility of a couple of real pirates and a few mermaids. Popular children’s book authors will be telling stories, and there will be food geared to the younger ones, together with ice cream treats.

The event organizers encourage little ones to wear their favorite mermaid or pirate costumes. Parents will want to take pictures of their little ones interacting with the animals and characters for later poster printing, or possibly postcard and Stationery printing.

The fun will be on February 27 from 11:00 am until 5:00 pm. Admission will be $10 per adult, and children under 18 will get in free.
