Local Independence Day event to celebrate patriotism

'Patriotism in Paradise' is a festival happening this Independence Day weekend, carrying the theme of ‘Together we create America’.

There will be lots of different activities taking place that will appeal to every member of the family. These include putt-putt golf, a kids’ area, musical performances, water games, and spirit poles.

Organizers hope to have up to 50 spirit poles decorated by area artists which fit with the theme of the event. These poles are 10-foot PVC poles that can be decorated however the artist sees fit, and each artist whose pole is accepted will receive $100.

Other events taking place over the weekend include Northwest's Taste of the South BBQ, where guests can sample a variety of foods from local vendors while they listen to blues and R&B music. The Star Spangled Jubilee and Red, White and Brunch Fore are other attractions. Of course, the event would not be complete without featuring a July 4th fireworks display.

This festival will no doubt attract visitors from all over the county, including nearby Jupiter. Many of those planning to decorate a spirit pole may decide to purchase flags or Banners from their local banner printing companies.

Patriotism in Paradise is taking place in downtown West Palm Beach from July 4 to 6. Admission to most events is free, or VIP passes are available for $25. For more information, call 561-822-2222.
